| I never thought I'd be attending my first anime convention of the year so early, but after a really great experience at Ani-Magic, I couldn't resist going to this year's inaugural Anime Los Angeles. The smaller conventions don't offer as much programming, but they are great places to socialize. This was a no-frills convention. The program guide was a few pages of paper stapled together and there were only a handful of dealers. Without a doubt, it was the smallest anime convention that I had ever attended. The Los Angeles/Orange County area is home to some major conventions, but all of which are during the second half of the year. Holding a convention this early in the year was definitely good for anime fans in the area who don't want to wait until summer to attend a local convention. |
