One of the big reasons why I like making the trip from Los Angeles to Fanime is its strong music
programming. MusicFest is one of the better programs that can be found at an anime convention.
Every year, there is a good mix of local, stateside, and international talent. I was also glad to see the
entire program move back to the Civic Auditorium, where thousands of fans can enjoy the live music and
performers can have a large stage to put on a really energetic show. Having a venue like this is a major
asset to any music program. Most conventions simply don't have access to large auditoriums, suitable
for a concert.
Performing at Friday night's show were GHOST TOWNE, All Ages, LYV, and Thee Out Mods. Sunday
night's extravaganza was headlined by the Japanese rock band, An Cafe, with local favorites Ramen &
Rice as the opening act. It was two nights of outstanding and memorable performances. For music
lovers, I highly recommend FanimeCon and its MusicFest program for the outstanding talent and a great
venue to showcase them.
