Conclusion
Even though Pacific Media Expo is one of my favorite conventions, I still have a tough time figuring out
what it is and what it wants to be.  While I like having things like Korean drama and hip-hop dancing
exhibitions, I've never been quite sure if those aspects attract people to this convention.  As for the
music program, whatever happened to the convention that got TM Revolution, Nami Tamaki, and
OLIVIA?  Honestly, I think once you get major label artists to perform at your convention, you can never
go back.  For two years in a row now, this convention has had to settle for independent bands and
performers.  It was still popular and the concerts were well attended, but people expect a lot more from
this convention.  With the music program, it seems that they're quite content to go backwards.

However, it was nice to see Cosfest moved back to a suitable room.  I completely blew it off last year
because it was in a Live Programming room.  There weren't a lot of entries and it looks as if everybody
walked away with something, but honestly I can't sit through a cosplay contest with 40+ entries and
takes all night, which is what you get at the bigger conventions.

I'm still very much frustrated by this location.  I simply don't like being at this hotel.  Saturday was very
busy and it was very crowded in the lobby and the hallways.  Many times, I had to wait to walk through
the hall or down the main staircase because of photo ops.  There's a point where the crowd density is
beyond my comfort level and this year, it was way beyond that.  It reminded me of San Diego Comic
Con, which I went to for the first time this year.  I felt like I was in a sardine can.  I didn't like that and
that's why I'll never go back to Comic Con.  Also, for cosplay photography, the LAX Hilton is the worst
venue I have on my convention schedule.  This is why I most of my cosplay photographs are of people
that I'm used to working with.  It's just easier to get them to go where I need them to be for decent
photos.  As someone who loves to take photos of cosplayers, I honestly hate this location.

While I don't know what the attendance figures are for this convention, but it felt more crowded this year.
I don't know much it had to do with all the other events that were going on in the hotel that weekend.
For me, it was at a point that was rather uncomfortable.  I don't know if I can handle another year at this
location.

Did I mention that I hate this venue?  I think I did.

See you next year...maybe
